Costa Brava
La Selva, town by town.
Huge estates inside the woods and front-line flats that empty out in October. Here the firebreak strip and the pool are a year-round job.
Regular visits, a protocol inspection and a photo report in every town of the comarca. From €69/month, no lock-in.
Towns in this comarca (6 towns)
Each has its own page, with what gets watched there in particular.
- Tossa de Mar→Houses on steep ground with access that gets awkward in winter, and a walled old town of narrow streets. Llorell and Cala Llevadó are all but deserted from November to Easter.
- Lloret de Mar→Huge estates half empty for nine months of the year, with a pool and garden on almost every plot. This is where the gap between a visited house and a forgotten one shows most clearly.
- Blanes→The gateway to the Costa Brava, with plenty of seasonal flats in S'Abanell and estates up the hill. Salt on the front line, large buildings, and flats that are not opened between September and June.
- Maçanet de la Selva→Estates scattered through the woods, far from the village and out of sight of any neighbour. The firebreak strip is a legal duty, not advice, and nobody reminds an empty house about it.
- Vidreres→Aiguaviva Parc and the other estates are large plots surrounded by pines. Vegetation, chambers and water tanks: when a house is only used in summer, the forest works the rest of the year, not you.
- Caldes de Malavella→Golf and residential ground with seasonal houses in very international ownership. Automatic irrigation, pool and garden running unattended; a silent fault is paid for in the water bill.
What repeats across this comarca
The features that come up most across its towns, and what we do about each one.
Scattered estate
With no permanent neighbour nearby, there is nobody to raise the alarm. The scheduled round is literally the only way anything gets noticed.
Pool
Level, filtration, cover and winterising. A pool left standing for six months is the most expensive and most avoidable fault a second home has.
Forest interface
The firebreak strip is a legal duty, not advice, and nobody reminds an empty house about it. We watch vegetation, gutters and branches over the roof.
Empty all winter
Months with the house shut and the blinds down. Dry traps, damp and stale air are the guaranteed result if nobody goes in to air it.
Salt air
Salt seizes blind runners, hinges and locks. We check them, grease them, and tell you when a window will not take another winter.
Seasonal letting
Damage appears between tenants and nobody documents it. A photographed inspection makes it clear what was there before and what is there after.
